1st Night - Colombo

Ayubowan! Welcome to your honeymoon holiday to Sri lanka. Your first night will be spent in the bustling city of Colombo! There is much to see in this sprawling city from historical and religious sites to beaches, malls, cafes, art centres and lively nightlife! Your hotel, Paradise Road Tintagel, is a presidential mansion with a storied past that was converted into the finest boutique hotel in Sri Lanka. Your accommodation will be the spacious and luxurious Superior Suite, which comes decorated with fresh flower petals and accompanied by a complimentary bottle of wine and box of fine chocolates.

The pampering starts from the moment you arrive in Sri Lanka! Our staff will handle the airport formalities and all you have to do is relax in the private, deluxe airport lounge whilst sipping on some beverages and going over the holiday plans with our representative. A luxury vehicle will whisk you away to your hotel thereafter. If you arrive in the morning, the rest of the day is left free for you to explore the many impressive cultural sights, art galleries, vibrant markets and bazaars of Colombo; your chauffeur can guide you with your choices. The day ends with a private, candlelit dinner in the exclusive Library Room in your hotel.

2nd & 3rd Nights - Induruwa

Perched on a rocky headland in Induruwa, with golden beaches below and the waves of the warm Indian Ocean gently singing a lullaby, Saman Villas is a romantic boutique hotel that pushes the boundaries of luxury. Named after the fragrant Jasmine Flower, Saman Villas boasts impeccable service, modern comforts and is the perfect boutique hotel getaway for those in love. Your Deluxe Suite has a private garden, sun loungers and a 7-metre infinity edge lap pool that has fantastic panoramic views of the ocean and beach below. Induruwa and Bentota have lots of interesting places to explore and your honeymoon holiday involves a couple of excursions to these areas as well.

Wake up to a delicious breakfast-in-bed, relax and set off to Induruwa in your luxury vehicle. After reaching the hotel you can indulge in a couples spa session, dive into the warm waters of the ocean or relax with a drink in your private pool till lunchtime. There are no activities scheduled for this day, so you’re free to explore your surroundings at leisure or you could simply choose to relax and enjoy the many facilities the hotel has to offer. The day ends with a romantic, private, candlelit dinner under the stars overlooking the Indian Ocean.

After breakfast you will head out on a drive past Bentota to explore and experience an amazing garden – The Brief. Crafted to perfection across several decades by Bevis Bawa, an illustrious landscaper, this 20-acre garden is a masterpiece with a wonderful mix of plantlife, water features, anthropomorphic flower vases, fantastical head sculptures and inspired landscaping. Towards late afternoon, you will head out on a walking tour of Bentota and encounter local crafts, handlooms, rice paddy fields and streams. The walk will also take you to the highest point in Bentota for an amazing view of the landscape below. The day ends with a romantic, private, candlelit dinner under the stars overlooking the Indian Ocean.

4th & 5th Nights - Galle

You will be visiting the culture-rich Galle Fort during this leg of your Sri Lankan honeymoon. The Fort was built by Portuguese colonists, and modified by the Dutch and British, during their respective colonisations. Today, it is a beautifully eclectic mix of cosy homes, cafes, intriguing stores, quirky hotels, and art galleries. The best way to experience this UNESCO World Heritage site would be to stay within the Fort, and that is precisely what you will be doing! Your stay will be at Amangalla, yet another boutique hotel with an illustrious history. Consisting of a union of buildings with a history of 400 years, Amangalla boasts old-world luxury coupled with exceptional service and amazing cuisines.

After breakfast, a short drive in your luxury vehicle will get you to your next accommodation, Amangalla, situated within the Galle Fort. You can spend the morning indulging in, arguably, the best spa in the country or enjoying the hotel’s numerous other facilities. Towards late afternoon, you will be taken on a private walking tour of the Galle Fort. On this tour, you’ll get an insight into the colonial history, legends and mysteries of the Fort. You are free to explore and experience the fort and Galle Town thereafter. We recommend that you head to the ramparts in the evening to watch the sunset whilst enjoying some street food.

If your Sri Lankan honeymoon falls between November to March, a Whale Watching tour would be the perfect addition to an encounter filled holiday. The boat excursion to meet the giants of the ocean requires an early morning start and the tour can take around 5 hours to complete. However, it is an incredibly rewarding experience as there are many Blue Whales and multiple pods of Dolphins to be seen. You will return in time for a delicious Sri Lankan lunch and you are free to explore your surroundings at your leisure thereafter.

If your holiday falls outside of the above period, or if there are adverse weather conditions forecasted or if being out at sea is not your most favourite thing to do, an alternative option would be to embark on the Cinnamon Experience. During this tour you will visit a beautiful, working cinnamon estate which produces pure Ceylon Cinnamon. Here you can experience the sequence of events, from planting and caring for the trees to harvesting and processing of the cinnamon bark. It is quite a fascinating experience and will help you to get a deep understanding of why Ceylon Cinnamon is highly valued and sought after.

We’ve reached the end of your 5-night honeymoon holiday to Sri Lanka and it is time to depart. Your chauffeur will meet you at the hotel lobby and take you to Colombo via the highway. Alternatively, if you would like, a scenic air transfer ride via Seaplane or Helicopter can also be arranged to get you to Colombo. Lunch will be served at the Gallery Cafe, the former office of the legendary architect Geoffrey Bawa. After a delicious lunch and a tour of the exquisitely designed premises, you could indulge in some last minute shopping, before heading out to the airport to catch your departure flight.

What more to add?

  • Early Check-ins or late Checkouts (organised upon confirmation of your flight schedules).
  • Special romantic dinners at the hotels.
  • Additional nights in any of the locations.
  • Domestic air travel between locations.
  • Extensions with cultural highlights, tea experiences in the hills or wildlife experiences.

The important stuff:

Sri Lanka is a nation where religion and culture occupy an important place in the day-to-day lives of the local people. It is important to be aware of the customs and practices that are particular to the location you are visiting, so here are a few general tips to keep in mind during your travels. Your guide / chauffeur will assist you with more detailed information.

  • If you plan on visiting any temples, ancient or current, you should wear clothing that covers your body from your shoulders down to your knees. Head coverings such as caps or helmets should be removed and shoes must be taken off at the entrance. White coloured clothing is generally a good choice to go with here.
  • Some religious places do not allow photography or videography without prior permission and some may not allow it at all. Refer to signage or ask your chauffeur guide about the policy or protocol. Don’t try to photograph or take videos without permission.
  • If you have any tattoos associated with Buddhism, Hinduism or Islamism, it’s best that you cover them completely in public places.
  • Smoking is prohibited in indoor public places, workplaces and on public transport.

About pricing:

Although it may sound strange for a tropical country, Sri Lankan hotels operate on seasonal rates. This is simply due to a particular region having attractions or weather that’s best enjoyed during a specific time of the year and also due to the demand coinciding with the European winter season. So it’s not uncommon to have two rates that apply on different dates in the same month.

But to make things less complicated for you, Experiential Journeys does things differently by giving you the lowest season ball-park rate on the website, and follows up with the exact rate upon receiving an inquiry or booking request along with the confirmed travel dates. You will not be charged anything until the final price is agreed upon.

Experiential Journeys is an Australian based company and uses AUD as the main currency. We serve a global community of travellers predominantly from New Zealand, U.K., U.S.A., Canada & U.A.E.
