1st Night - Kotugoda

Ayubowan! Welcome to your luxury getaway in Sri Lanka. The first night of your private tour begins in the quaint village of Kotugoda. The Wallawwa Boutique Hotel where you will be staying is a historic manor house set in a 200-year-old tropical garden and features a jungle pool, heavenly spa and amazing cuisine. Your accommodation will be in the spacious Garden Suite, which comes with a King-sized four poster bed, armchairs, daybed window seats, ensuite bathroom with rain shower and many modern amenities. Feel free to explore the locality or head over to the coastal fishing town of Negombo to experience its attractions, vibrant nightlife and cuisine.

The pampering starts from the moment you arrive in Sri Lanka! Our staff will handle the airport formalities and all you have to do is relax in the private, deluxe airport lounge whilst sipping on some beverages and going over the holiday plans with our representative. A luxury vehicle will whisk you away to your hotel thereafter. If your flight arrives in the morning, the rest of the day is left free for you to explore your locality and your chauffeur can guide you with your choices. Later on in the day you will head to the hotel’s Z Spa to enjoy a Shiatsu massage.

2nd & 3rd Nights - Dickoya

Located about 40 minutes away from Hatton town is the beautiful region of Dickoya, home of the vast Castlereigh Reservoir. Here you will be staying at one of the five luxurious Ceylon Tea Trails bungalows, which are classic colonial era bungalows lovingly restored and upgraded to be luxury boutique accommodations. The bungalows are quite unique in terms of characteristics – Tientsin is classically colonial, Castlereagh is quite eclectic, Summerville is reminiscent of a cosy country cottage, whilst Norwood and Dunkeld are rooted more in the modern era of the 1960’s. The bungalows feature four to six luxurious suites, a professional butler who is at your service from dawn to dusk, and plenty of luxurious comforts.

After breakfast your luxury vehicle will take you to the hills of Dickoya and arrive just in time for a sumptuous lunch. The agenda for your stay here is largely left free so that you can enjoy the bungalow and your surroundings at leisure. A great holiday is always remembered by the wonderful memories you made and the less you have to worry about, the better the memories are. The all-inclusive accommodation at Tea Trails allows you to indulge in everything that the bungalow has to offer, without having to worry about any additional bills. From delicious cuisine to outdoor activities, spa treatments to luxury baths, and fantastic rooms with unparalleled service, to the breathtaking location, there’s a lot to experience and enjoy.

If you ever want to take a break from relaxing, the Tea Trail bungalows have plenty of outdoor activities for you to experience. Guided scenic walks & hikes, mountain bike rides, kayaking in the Castlereagh Reservoir, croquet and tennis are just some of the activities on offer. After lunch the next day, you will be taken on a guided tour of the Dunkeld Tea Factory. This tour is conducted by the resident Tea Planter, and looks back at the early days of tea in Sri Lanka, the lifestyles of the early colonial settlers and the manufacturing process that turns ‘two leaves and a bud’ into a delicious cup of goodness.

4th, 5th & 6th Nights - Weligama

It’s time to leave the hills and head down to the warm, golden beaches of the South Coast. Cape Weligama, where you will be staying, is a slice of paradise perched on a cliff with breathtaking panoramas of the Indian Ocean. The resort features a variety of suites and villas and is one the most luxurious resorts on the island. The culture-rich Galle Fort, a Unesco World Heritage site, is located a short distance away. Originally built by Portuguese colonists, the Fort today is a beautifully eclectic mix of cosy homes, cafes with fusion cuisines, intriguing stores, quirky hotels, and art galleries frequented by travellers, artists, writers, photographers and designers.

After breakfast your luxury vehicle will take you on a scenic drive down to the Weligama Coast. Cape Weligama is a resort that should be savoured… slowly, which is why no activities are planned for the rest of the day. The resort has numerous viewpoints which can be enjoyed with a drink or whilst having a meal, a heavenly spa, incredible cuisine, shared pools between villas, and two main pools – the cove pool and the signature crescent shaped cliff-top infinity pool that overlooks the sea. The opulent villas come with all modern amenities as well as a steam room and stone bathtub. For the adventurous souls, the resort offers scuba diving, snorkelling, surfing, lake kayaking and rice paddy bicycling excursions.

Your morning agenda is free, so you can relax and spend it as you wish at the resort or by exploring your surroundings. After lunch, you will be driven to the city of Galle in your luxury vehicle, to experience a private walking tour of the Galle Fort. On this tour, you’ll get an insight into the colonial history, legends and mysteries of the Fort. You are free to explore and experience the fort thereafter, but we do recommend that you head to the ramparts in the evening to watch the sunset whilst enjoying some street food.

If your luxury holiday in Sri Lanka falls between November to March, a private Whale Watching tour along with a bottle of champagne, would be the perfect addition to your holiday. The excursion to meet the giants of the ocean requires an early morning start and the tour can take around 5 hours to complete. However, it is an incredibly rewarding experience as there are many Blue Whales and multiple pods of Dolphins to be seen. You will return in time for lunch and you are free to explore your surroundings at your leisure thereafter.

If your holiday falls outside of the above period, or if there are adverse weather conditions forecasted or if being out at sea is not your most favourite thing to do, an alternative option would be to embark on the Cinnamon Experience. During this tour you will visit a beautiful, working cinnamon estate which produces pure Ceylon Cinnamon. Here you can experience the sequence of events, from planting and caring for the trees to harvesting and processing of the cinnamon bark. It is quite a fascinating experience and will help you to get a deep understanding of why Ceylon Cinnamon is highly valued and sought after.

We’ve reached the end of your 6-night luxury holiday to Sri Lanka and it is time to depart. Your chauffeur will meet you at the hotel lobby and take you to Colombo via the highway.

The important stuff:

Sri Lanka is a nation where religion and culture occupy an important place in the day-to-day lives of the local people. It is important to be aware of the customs and practices that are particular to the location you are visiting, so here are a few general tips to keep in mind during your travels. Your guide / chauffeur will assist you with more detailed information.

  • If you plan on visiting any temples, ancient or current, you should wear clothing that covers your body from your shoulders down to your knees. Head coverings such as caps or helmets should be removed and shoes must be taken off at the entrance. White coloured clothing is generally a good choice to go with here.
  • Some religious places do not allow photography or videography without prior permission and some may not allow it at all. Refer to signage or ask your chauffeur guide about the policy or protocol. Don’t try to photograph or take videos without permission.
  • If you have any tattoos associated with Buddhism, Hinduism or Islamism, it’s best that you cover them completely in public places.
  • Smoking is prohibited in indoor public places, workplaces and on public transport.

About pricing:

Although it may sound strange for a tropical country, Sri Lankan hotels operate on seasonal rates. This is simply due to a particular region having attractions or weather that’s best enjoyed during a specific time of the year and also due to the demand coinciding with the European winter season. So it’s not uncommon to have two rates that apply on different dates in the same month.

But to make things less complicated for you, Experiential Journeys does things differently by giving you the lowest season ball-park rate on the website, and follows up with the exact rate upon receiving an inquiry or booking request along with the confirmed travel dates. You will not be charged anything until the final price is agreed upon.

Experiential Journeys is an Australian based company and uses AUD as the main currency. We serve a global community of travellers predominantly from New Zealand, U.K., U.S.A., Canada & U.A.E.
