The design and layout is right at the top of our list, as it blends beautifully with nature and puts the most significant feature, the view of Sigiriya and Pidurangala, front and centre wherever you are in the hotel.

Comfort

There are 3 types of villas to choose from at Water Gardens - Deluxe Villas, Superior Deluxe Villas, and Duplex Twin Villas. The latter two come with a private plunge pool situated on a sunkissed, outdoor deck.

All the villas are airy and draw the outside world in, so they feel spacious and connected to nature even when you’re relaxing inside.

Experiences

For the outdoorsy traveller, trekking up Sigiriya Lion Rock or Pidurangala Rock would be first on the list of things-to-do. After you climb those, the 35 acres of beautifully landscaped surroundings present an amazing opportunity to have a mini safari of your own, either on foot or on a bicycle. But if that isn’t enough, you could try your hand at Croquet or Archery - just try not to hit a rock squirrel while you're at it - or you could even venture out of the hotel for a village walk. After a tiring excursion, head back to your villa, dive into the pool, chill out and take in the views of the Sigiriya Rock with an island cocktail in hand. Alternatively, you could head over to the spa for a relaxing Balinese massage that’s sure to restore balance to the mind and body.

If excursions are not your thing, you could engage in a battle of wits at the billiard room or pick up local cooking secrets as the chef takes you through a cooking lesson of Sri Lankan favourites!

If we didn’t have a section called Gastronomy, the food at Water Garden would definitely be listed under Experiences! Made with home-grown and locally sourced fresh ingredients and spices - from freshly caught lake fish to hand peeled Ceylon Cinnamon - Water Garden’s authentic Sri Lankan dishes will set your palate alight. The international cuisine selection is equally inspiring and we highly recommend that you try the lamb cutlets.

If you have special food requirements, worry not, Water Garden has Keto, Vegan and Vegetarian meal plans as well. In the evenings, the elegant twin-level bar is the ideal setting for a sundowner, signature Arrack cocktail and spectacular views of the lion head shaped Sigiriya rock.
