Rainforest Eco Lodge

Rainforest Eco Lodge is located in the Sinharaja Division of the Enselwatte Estate, formerly a tea estate, and it borders the southern boundary of the Sinharaja forest reserve.

The area has a perennial wet climate and it is approximately 900 – 1000 metres above the sea level.

The Ecolodge has been designed to provide a magical and immersive experience of the forest habitat in all its glory. Key elements of each apartment include an environmentally friendly alfresco room, observation deck, lounge, and meeting room. Visitors can take in the breathtaking vista from every location within the lodge. The symbiotically merged woodland surroundings offer comfort and solitude while providing the ideal opportunity to commune with nature.

We do love the immersive experience offered by the Rainforest Ecolodge, into the thick of the rainforest with its strange flowers, endemic reptiles and rare amphibians. The soothing jungle serenade of unusual birds and animals is a sound never to be forgotten.

Its visually stunning location on top of a mountain and immersed in an emerald green tea plantation is unique. Cabins each offer a balcony practically on the edge of the rainforest allowing you to feel at one with nature. Staff too work hard to make you feel welcome.

Comfort

Rainforest Eco Lodge offers 16 comfortable Chalets that are built from recycled materials and furnished with all the amenities you could require to make you feel at home. The chalets are tucked away in a tea patch and provide guests breathtaking views of the tea estate and forest canopy that will last a lifetime. Each chalet has a private balcony, a sitting space, a bedroom, and a bathroom.

The interior is tastefully furnished with bamboo panelling, and interestingly, the floor of the private deck is made from old railroad sleepers.

Gastronomy

Enjoy the delectable food made by the Ecolodge’s team of culinary experts. The fresh fruit and vegetables used to prepare all the distinctive dishes are freshly sourced from the nearby village. Meat and seafood is brought in from Galle.

Sri Lankan and International dishes are served at the Ecolodge’s restaurant, which also has a bar. The lounge and dining room are accessible via a series of metal walkways after you enter the Rainforest Ecolodge through its imposing entryway. A well-equipped kitchen serves the open-sided eating area.
