Mahoora Tented Safari Camp Udawalawe is located in a thicket on the eastern boundary of the Udawalawe National Park, surrounded by bush forest.

Tents are spread out in order to ensure privacy and a true wilderness setting.

As the south and west boundaries of the park have no such forest cover, this campsite location was carefully handpicked to amplify the feeling of being in the midst of nature. Mahoora Safari Tents are the largest and most luxurious safari tents in Sri Lanka. Each tent is handmade locally using the finest of materials.

Why do we love Mahoora Udawalawe?

The Mahoora Campsite is a teeming 12-acres of animated wildlife. We do love a stroll with their naturalist by the forest lake, rock cliff, and around the campsite so as to see wild creatures in their natural habitat.

Mahoora is a completely mobile safari camp option and thus gives guests a true safari camp experience. All luxuries they offer are in relation to the mobile camping concept. Mahoora has the largest pool of professional naturalists and also owns the largest pool of modified safari jeeps in the country.

Comfort

Mahoora Tented Safari Camps provides 2 types of accommodation namely Mahoora Elite and Mahoora Premium each containing 4 tents. The Mahoora Elite tent is the most spacious tent among all safari camp tents (including mobile and fixed tents) in the country. It has plenty of space and all amenities required for a very comfortable stay.

The spacious Mahoora Elite tent (32’x10.8’) has a bedroom, living area, and an en-suite bathroom. Outside is a small veranda area. The whole tent, including the washroom, is carpeted wall-to-wall and furnished comfortably.

Experiences

Enjoy a cultural culinary experience, with clay pots and traditional utensils, as you cook Egg Hoppers or Sri Lankan style Chicken Curry alongside the executive chef. How about a guided cycling experience? Travel miles of paddy fields and through sleepy villages, then take a break on the banks of the iconic Mahawewa Lake before heading back to camp.

For post-safari relaxation therapy; kick off your safari shoes and sit down to a soothing and luxurious foot bath with scented warm water. Unwind and enjoy VVIP treatment personalised to your taste.

Gastronomy

Food is fresh, spicy and delectable. Jungle dining is a whole new experience. You can enjoy a surreal, alfresco fine dining experience in the wilderness with personalised butler service. Curious monkeys and peacocks will join at a safe distance while you enjoy your 5th course, and maybe nocturnal wildlife will move in the shadows as you sit back and relax with a quirky cocktail by the campfire.
