Amangalla

Amangalla is located inside the walls of Sri Lanka’s UNESCO Heritage Site, Galle Fort, which dates to the 17th century.

On one side, it provides views of the Fort and the harbour; on the other, it provides views of the hotel’s lovely gardens and swimming pool.

Amangalla is named after the Sanskrit word for ‘peace’ and galla, the Sinhalese word for the town of Galle. The Hotel provides a rich juxtaposition of history and luxury with 31 rooms and suites, a tranquil swimming pool with personal cabanas that provide covered privacy and exotic 200-year-old tropical gardens. Access nirvana with Amangalla’s signature 3-hour spa treatment including a cleansing scrub and wrap made of local cinnamon and lotus, a full-body massage, and a sandalwood facial. Hot and cold plunge pools, steam rooms, and saunas are available in the two hydrotherapy suites. The Yoga Pavilion is located in the garden. Sunrise private yoga and personal training sessions are also provided on the ramparts.

Gastronomy

The majestic Great Hall, or Zaal, as it was known in Dutch times, lies at one end of Amangalla. It is furnished with traditional seats and tables, crisp white linen, and antique silverware.

Veranda is a great place to enjoy a typical hopper breakfast while watching Galle Fort come to life. The Pool Terrace serves breakfast and light lunches next to the resort's tranquil swimming pool, shaded by magnificent flamboyant trees. To toast the end of the day, have a relaxing glass of wine on the Sunset Balcony.
