Thaprobhan Beach House

The Thaproban beach house is located in the balmy hamlet of Unawatuna, near to some of the island’s most magnificent beach attractions and “reggae evenings,” and has the added benefit of being close to Unawatuna’s eateries.

The Thaproban Beach House is set on the edge of a small mysterious cove, tied to so much legend and fable, giving lodging in creative suites, with warmly welcoming personnel. The property is also a 15-minute drive from Galle Fort, the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Think of breath-taking coconut palm fringed beaches, bright sun, sheer white curtains wafting in the sea wind, and tastefully built contemporary rooms. Thaproban Beach House has 12 spacious, comfortable rooms: two Standard, four Deluxe, four Superior, and two Penthouse suites, all with King and Queen size beds and air conditioning. Some overlook the Indian Ocean with a private balcony.

Each room has solid carved wooden antique beds and inviting white linen to provide visitors with relaxation, solitude, with a distant view of the sea or headland.

Experiences

The white sands of Unawatuna Beach are ideal for lounging in a lounge chair under a coconut palm with a glass in hand, taking a boat ride to the reef, or snorkelling or diving, with help from the PADI instructors if needed.

You can rent a bicycle to explore Unawatuna and even the Galle Fort. A fishing excursion can be arranged from the Hotel. If you’re in Unawatuna at the right monsoon season and you're keen on surfing, this can be arranged by the Hotel.

Gastronomy

A la carte menu items include mouth-watering fresh salads, beef and poultry, and, last but not least, seafood such as flamed red lobster, grilled prawn kebab, and sea bass on lemon, beautifully balanced with aromatic herbs.

The Thaproban restaurant is a haven for seafood lovers, serving classic and original Sri Lankan cuisine prepared with the spices of Ceylon. Enjoy a glass of wine at the bar while watching the sunset.
