Located on the North-East Coast of the island, Trincomalee is a destination full of history and fantastic locations for perfect holidays. It is well known for its snorkelling and scuba diving spots, many ancient religious and historical sites, as well as dolphin and whale watching tours.

The origin of this temple is attributed to Ravana, a mythical king of Sri Lanka. It is part of 5 significant temples located on the coastlines around the country dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva. The temple is located on a rocky outcrop with stunning views of the ocean.
The original Koneswaram Temple was destroyed by the Portuguese and the debris was used to build a small fort in the 17th century BCE. This fort was eventually remodelled by the Dutch as Fort Fredrick during their colonisation. It contains many historical highlights and is a must-visit location in Trincomalee.
Situated 10 minutes out of Trincomalee town, Uppuveli beach has the best elements of a beach getaway - great beaches, crystal clear waters, plenty of places to get fresh seafood dishes and loads of watersports too! It’s also great for sunbathing, long walks and cosy little picnics.
Legends say that the 7 hot water springs were created by the mythical King Ravana, when he plunged his sword into the ground to perform his mother’s last rites. Today the springs are contained within square shaped wells, and visitors who bathe there swear by the water’s healing properties.
Named after the huge flocks of pigeons that used to roost there, Pigeon Island gained popularity in the modern age due to the excellent coral beds and colourful marine life found there. It’s a fantastic place to encounter a variety of reef fish, sea turtles and Blacktip Reef Sharks.
