“Ahas” denotes “Sky” in the Sinhalese language, which is spoken in Sri Lanka, while “Pokuna” denotes “Pond” or “Pool.”

Ahaspokuna here refers to a lake that is located high in the hills and only refilled by rain.

This exclusive tented camp offers adventures focused on luxurious immersion in the outdoors, where fresh discoveries can be made around every bend. This all-suite camp, which is situated in the country’s hill country and can only be reached by foot, offers bushwalking experiences in an idyllic and magical rainforest setting. Ahaspokuna offers eco-friendly lodging to promote lights off” after 10 p.m. So at night, your suite-tent is furnished with beautiful natural candle jars and lamps.

Ahaspokuna is the only all-suite lodging establishment without a motorable road, providing tranquillity for the environment, wildlife, and you. Comfort

You have a sleeping tent, luggage storage area, flushing toilet, and indoor shower with hot and cold water. Aside from outdoor adventure, a beautiful living room with lots of cosy, secluded nooks for you to read, unwind, meditate, and practice yoga. Within your 10,000 square metres of private area, just outside your Suite-Tent, you will find a lovely Star Bed where you may unwind or sleep at any time of day or night, as well as Sri Lanka's first-ever Bush Bathtub that looks out over the vast grasslands.

Ahaspokuna staff and guides are helpful, genuine, knowledgeable and kind. On typical bushwalks, they pay closer attention to the wildlife, landscape, and background of the area and are happy to tailor these walks to your preferences.

Ahaspokuna’s centrepiece is a spring-fed pond that is always overflowing with fresh, clean sparkling water. Aside from the excursions you can also read, unwind, or learn local dishes from the camp cooks. To relax your body and mind, you could schedule a session with a yoga or meditation instructor or an Ayurvedic massage therapist.

Gastronomy

Embark on a new journey of gastronomic enjoyment when you dine on the authentic Sri Lankan cuisine at Ahaspokuna. The native sweetmeats, "polos" cutlets (young jackfruit cooked in spices, mashed, and deep-fried), local breadsticks "Viskiringe," and "Lavariya," coconut and jaggery wrapped in string hoppers, among a host of others, are some of the delicacies you may find here.
