Only 7 kilometres from Kandy city, this boutique hotel is nestled in the countryside. The last Chief Minister of the Kandyan Kingdom built this massive home in the lovely near the ancient city in 1804, combining native, Moor and Dutch elements. 200 years on, it is now a designer boutique hotel in Kandy, preserving the character of this attractive historical property while raising the bar for 21st century guests.

We love Kandy House because it is an opportunity to stay at a one-of-a-kind historical manor house in a lush, tropical garden setting near Kandy, with a sense of privacy and serenity for its visitors. Arriving at Kandy house feels like a step into a reality of what life should be. The house is exceptionally presented and wonderfully managed. A beautiful colonial building, each room with its own character.

The garden chairs are perfect by the ambiance lit pool…the luxurious seating spaces are perfect for quiet moments… you should experience it!

Comfort

The Kandy House accommodation comes in nine individually designed air-conditioned double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, complete with all the modern amenities. The room types go as: Red Spot Duke, Peacock Royal, Indian Admiral, Black Rajah, Sunbeam, Cornelian, Monkey Puzzle, Pioneer and Lime Butterfly.

The rooms here are really lovely as you can have your privacy mixed with a feeling that you’re sleeping in the middle of a garden full of birds and if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to catch sight of deers roaming in the morning too!

Experiences

A magnificent infinity pool overlooking the rice paddy fields has been integrated into the gardens, and an ‘ambalama’ perches over the vegetation to enjoy a massage or therapeutic treatment.The Ayurvedic therapist here has 25 years of expertise. You can enjoy energy healing, full body and head massages - leaving you feeling energised, feeling calmer and better able to enjoy a good night's sleep.

Or else, pick up some art supplies if you're feeling creative, or with a member of staff learn to play the famous South Asian game, carrom.

Gastronomy

On your private terrace or in the veranda restaurant, you may dine on delectable fusion and Sri Lankan cuisine. Pre-dinner beverages can be enjoyed at the Butterfly Bar or at the terraced garden.

Fresh and authentic cuisine, featuring local flavours and curries are provided in The Kandy House. The kitchen team takes pride in giving you memorable dining experiences, whilst holidaying in the hill country. Fortnightly, they serve their highly acclaimed feast of ten traditional Sri Lankan curries - something to really look forward to!
