Ulagalla is in the rural village of Tirappane 20 kilometres from Anuradhapura, the ancient city in the north central district of Sri Lanka. The original “Wallawwa” was built in 1885 and has been renovated, maintaining its traditional architectural features which now houses the reception area.

The Ulagalla Resort follows strict eco-friendly policies in every aspect of its facilities, including generating electricity by running a solar energy farm.

Comfort

At Ulagalla Resort, there are 25 Pool Villas to choose from, each with its own little oasis. This includes 19 Ulagalla Pool Villa, Deluxe Ulagalla Pool Villas, and Nikawewa Pool Villa. These well-designed villas are spread across the estate and have been constructed using environmentally friendly material.

Each villa offers awe-inspiring views of lush green paddy fields, teeming jungle or a quiet lake with its inviting waves and consists of ensuite bedroom facilities with a king-sized bed, dressing room, and a living room opening out to a private terrace with a plunge pool.

At ‘Liyawela’ enjoy the best of Sri Lankan, Eastern and Western as well as fusion cuisine. It is a cosy dining venue but you also have the liberty of dining alone on your own private terrace or even in a private setting near a paddy field.

The Ulagalla Resort offers you a new dining experience called ‘Kamatha’ which is set in the centre of a working paddy (rice) field. No compromises are made to source the freshest vegetables, fruits, and local produce - straight from home gardens or the village farms.
