Architecturally designed to offer spectacular views of Castlereagh reservoir, Camellia Hills is a modern tea planter’s bungalow that sits on a mountainside in Dickoya surrounded by emerald tea fields and rolling hills. The climate in the hills is warm during the day yet fresher and cooler at night, and ideal for long walks.

The town of Dickoya, which is the closest to Camellia Hills, is a thriving community at an elevation of 1,200 meters. It is well-known for its colonial-era clubhouse, the Castlereagh and Dickoya Cricket Club (formerly the Daramulla Club), whose dated timber-paneled interiors transport you to another era.

Why do we love Camelia Hills?

We do love the Camelia Hills as it is a perfect place for a quiet, scenic and a relaxing getaway in the hill country of this Island. The views from the rooms and the infinity pool are stunning and breathtaking.

It is also a perfect place to stay if you’re travelling with your family, friends or a small group as you’ll be able to book the whole villa and enjoy it as your own.

The staff here are very friendly and the food served is so delicious that you’ll have a feeling that you don’t want to leave this wonderful hospitality.

What can I look forward to?

Comfort

At Camellia Hills, there are just five extremely distinct bedrooms with timber floors. Each person looks out the picture windows at the Castlereagh Reservoir or the verdant hills beyond. Although each bedroom has a unique design and layout, they are all equally cozy and opulent.

Their two Lakeview Suites are the coziest, while the two Lakeview Bedrooms have their own furnished garden terraces with expansive views of the entire Castlereagh Valley. The Dickoya tea valleys and mountains may be seen from the twin-bedded Camellia Bedroom.

Experiences

There is a garden pool to relax here or sit on the couch with a drink or when reading a book with stunning views in the background.

You can go on a boat ride in the castlereagh lake arranged by the hotel team. There is also a chance for you to learn Sri Lankan food and spices in a rice and cookery demonstration.

Hikes, excursions, activities like Adam’s Peak, Tea Factory visit, Horton Plains National park and many more are accessible from Camelia Hills.

Gastronomy

If we didn’t have a section called Gastronomy, the food at Water Garden would definitely be listed under Experiences! Made with home-grown and locally sourced fresh ingredients and spices - from freshly caught lake fish to hand peeled Ceylon Cinnamon - Water Garden’s authentic Sri Lankan dishes will set your palate alight. The international cuisine selection is equally inspiring and we highly recommend that you try the lamb cutlets.

If you have special food requirements, worry not, Water Garden has Keto, Vegan and Vegetarian meal plans as well. In the evenings, the elegant twin-level bar is the ideal setting for a sundowner, signature Arrack cocktail and spectacular views of the lion head shaped Sigiriya rock.In the verdant highlands of Sri Lanka, Camellia Hills is your home away from home. A relaxing, individualized, and atmospheric eating experience is offered, and butlers are ready to pamper guests.
