Chena Huts
Surrounded by unspoilt nature, Chena Huts combine two of Sri Lanka’s most well-known features: tropical beaches and wilderness.
Uga Chena Huts is a collection of 14 luxury accommodations well off the beaten track, lying at the end of a specially built road that connects with the main Tissamaharama-Yala highway, a few minutes from the Yala park entrance.
Traditionally chena huts are the palm thatched temporary mudhuts erected by farmers to stay watch over their crops before harvest time. But these particular ‘huts’ have minibars, Panasonic flatscreen TVs, Geneva sound systems and dedicated plunge pools…while nevertheless cunningly blending in with adjacent tropical woods and saline lake amidst awe-inspiring views of the surrounding wilderness and coastline.
