Chena Huts

Surrounded by unspoilt nature, Chena Huts combine two of Sri Lanka’s most well-known features: tropical beaches and wilderness.

Uga Chena Huts is a collection of 14 luxury accommodations well off the beaten track, lying at the end of a specially built road that connects with the main Tissamaharama-Yala highway, a few minutes from the Yala park entrance.

Traditionally chena huts are the palm thatched temporary mudhuts erected by farmers to stay watch over their crops before harvest time. But these particular ‘huts’ have minibars, Panasonic flatscreen TVs, Geneva sound systems and dedicated plunge pools…while nevertheless cunningly blending in with adjacent tropical woods and saline lake amidst awe-inspiring views of the surrounding wilderness and coastline.

Why do we love Chena Huts?

Apart from its sheer class, we love Uga Chena Huts for its location, wonderful service and also because this destination has been expertly designed with a strong commitment to renewable energy. Another attraction has to be that each guest can have their private pool in their cabin.

As for food, all their delicious dishes are made using locally grown fruits and vegetables, or from the harvest of their own organic garden. Chena Huts also has a beautiful concealed poolside bar behind a waterfall.

What can I look forward to?

Insane opulence among the vines. Unspoilt surroundings, unexpected lavishness and the subject of adoring reviews from such travel legends as MrandMrs Smith.com – Uga Escapes Chena Huts is probably Sri Lanka’s most decadently luxurious jungle resort.
